ABOUT MUON GROUP

Going further than expected

We build and invest in Australian technology ventures that navigate complexity and reach what matters. SME-led companies in critical infrastructure, enterprise software, and contractor finance.

What We Believe

The best technology companies in critical sectors aren't built by outsiders with fresh ideas. They're built by people who've lived the problems—operators who understand the constraints, the stakeholders, and why things work the way they do.

These founders know where the inefficiencies hide. They know what customers actually need versus what they say they need. They know how to deliver outcomes that compound over time.

That's the difference between systems that get bought and systems that deliver value. Between pilots that stall and solutions that scale.

Transformation is intent and focus delivered in spite of resistance. We provide patient capital for patient work.

Guiding Principles

Earn trust first

Listen before proposing. Understand why things work the way they do. The sceptics usually have a point—they've seen what breaks.

SME-led transformation

Change from within, not imposed from outside. We've lived in these sectors. That's where insight—and credibility—comes from.

Work within guardrails

Constraints exist for reasons. Good transformation respects them, works with them, and only challenges what genuinely needs to change.

Forest and trees

Systems thinking and operational detail. Getting the train on the track matters. So does knowing how it stops.

Local context

Built for Australian regulations, terminology, and practices. Not adapted from overseas—purpose-built for how local businesses actually operate.

Long-term alignment

Decades, not quarters. Our interests compound with customers, contractors, and partners who share that horizon.

Focus Sectors

Critical Infrastructure

Energy, water, transport, and essential services. Environments where reliability is paramount and thoughtful engineering keeps people safe.

Data Centres

The physical backbone of digital Australia. Design, operations, and security for facilities where uptime is measured in nines.

AI Governance & Safety

Frameworks for responsible AI deployment in regulated industries. Helping organisations adopt AI without compromising compliance or trust.

Enterprise Software

Operations tools for Australian businesses—built for local regulations, terminology, and workflows rather than adapted from overseas.

Contractor Finance

Financial planning and structures for Australia's growing contractor workforce navigating ATO rules, super, and business structures.

Cyber Security & Architecture

Protecting critical systems and designing resilient infrastructure. OT security, network architecture, and defence-in-depth for environments that demand absolute integrity.

LEADERSHIP

Matt

Founder

Lead and architect by trade, team builder by instinct. Thirteen years designing critical infrastructure—energy grids, data centres, government networks—taught me that the best outcomes come from assembling sharp people around genuinely hard problems.

The pattern repeated everywhere: a wild, complex problem nobody wanted to touch. The right specialist in the room. A solution that saved the customer millions and made the "impossible" look obvious in hindsight. Architecture isn't about technology—it's about seeing what's actually needed and bringing together the people who can build it.

Most of that work was in environments where failure isn't theoretical. Transmission networks, SCADA systems, control room modernisation. Places where you earn trust slowly and the stakes keep you honest. CISSP certified, physics background—but credentials matter less than track record.

Muon Group exists to do this at scale. Find the sharpest operators and problem solvers, back them to tackle the problems they've been frustrated by for years, and make it fast, safe, secure, and scalable. Interesting problems, talented people, real impact.

Why 'Muon'?

Muons are created when cosmic rays strike the upper atmosphere. They live for just 2.2 microseconds—yet they reach Earth's surface, 10 kilometres below.

Classical physics says this is impossible. Relativity says otherwise. Time dilation means that from the muon's perspective, the journey takes far less time. From our perspective, the muon lives longer.

We named our company after a particle that travels further than expected, proving that conventional limits can be exceeded with the right understanding of fundamentals.
